Golden Eaglets Are Future Eagles- Manu Garba

Coach Manu Garba has tipped his Golden Eaglets to go on to be full internationals after they won the 2013 FIFA U17 World Cup in fine style.

“I see them moving up to the U20 team and then becoming the future Super Eagles,” said an elated Manu after Nigeria clinched a record fourth U17 World Cup at the expense of Mexico in Abu Dhabi.

“We were the most consistent and most entertaining team at this World Cup.
“And I believe we have left an indelible mark at this tournament.


Manu said the record victory was for the whole of Africa.
“I thank God for the victory, it was a massive victory for us. This is not only for us Nigerians, but for the entire Africa who backed us to achieve this,” he said.
The ex-Gombe United coach was assistant to late Yemi Tella when Nigeria won the FIFA U-17 in Korea 2007.

Jonathan Approved $4bn To Boost Electricity Transmission

President Goodluck Jonathan has approved the sum of $4 billion to boost electricity transmission in the country.
The Minister of Power and Steel, Prof Chinedu Nebo, disclosed this yesterday at the official commissioning of 1 X 150MVA, 330/132kv transformer at Ayede 330/132kv Substation, Ibadan, Oyo State capital.
Nebo added that the President had also approved a master plan for a national grid which will provide power to all rural areas in the country.
This, According to him, will have a national transformation impact on the country’s electricity supply.
He added: ”Not only will the national grid be a lot more reliable, it will be a lot more effective in places where there is no power before in Nigeria. It will also have a huge impact on the entire Nigeria populace.”
The Power Minister also disclosed that Nigeria has a metering gap of three million, adding that it is a huge market for meters manufacturers to tap into.
Commenting on the fate of the the staff of the defunct Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN), he noted that ”over 40,000 of the 47,000 PHCN workers have been paid off. We are also working hard to ensure that the remaining 7,000 workers, whose bio-metric capturing was not perfect, some of them opening multiple bank accounts with different names, and this has been giving the pension funds problem, because the computer does not accept multiple data.”
On the challenges confronting the power sector, Nebo said vandalization of the gas pipelines and electricity equipment has been a major setback to achieving stable power supply.
“We have deployed the national security adviser to tackle this issue, and he has brought in the Army, Civil Defence Corps and other security operatives to protect all the power facilities.
We have also digitally devised a way of monitoring the length and breadth of these facilities to ensure that whenever we have a breach we shall detect easily,” he said.
Nebo urged Nigerians to be patient with the new power investors, stressing that it will take a couple of months before Nigerians can be confident of stable power supply.

Rapper, Kanye West might be en route to prison if convicted of two misdemeanor charges in a Los Angeles court on January 23, 2014. The rapper was charged with battery and attempted grand theft in a case filed over a scuffle with a celebrity photographer earlier this year.
Kanye has however pleaded not guilty to both charges. His attorney, Blair Berk entered the plea on the rapper’s behalf on Thursday in an L.A court. The father of one [North West] was charged with two misdemeanors in September over a July altercation with paparazzo, Daniel Ramos at Los Angeles International Airport.
Ramos claims West punched him in an unprovoked attack and wrestled his camera to the ground. Reports claim prosecutors declined to file felony charges against West, but decided to pursue the misdemeanors.
